Sorry it's been so long, but my laptop went to the scrapyard in the sky, RIP my little friend :)
Anyway, now I'm back and with winter trying to arrive on our doorstep it's the time of year I start to wear more makeup now that the heat has subsided and less chance of it all sliding off haha.
My latest and current love is Maybellines 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in #40 Permanent Taupe (or Tough as Taupe for my lovely friends over the pond).
This is a fantastic cool toned matte grey taupe with a slight hint of mauve to it. It kind of reminds me of wet concrete, not the cutest of prettiest of descriptions, but fairy accurate non the less :)
Because it has this strange grey/beige/mauve like quality, I have found it works well under most medium to deeper shades of eyeshadow. It looks as good under blonde gold shades as it does under vibrant purples like Urban Decay's Omen from the 15th Anniversary palette.
Being matte has it's bonus too, because I can use it as a base under any eyeshadow finish to make the colour pop and adhere better without changing the finish of the actual powder shadow applied over it.
I love using under my lower lashline too and blending it out.
And while I'm onto blending, this is just a dream.
I find it best to apply with my fingers over my lids and it just blends effortlessly and smoothly.
It's actually very pretty just on it's own without shadow.
I always apply an eyeshadow base (NARS or Urban Decay original) because I have such oily lids and without them nothing sticks.
I would disagree however on the 24 Hour claim for this shade at least. Even with my usual eyeshadow base underneath, and with powder shadow over the top, whilst I get no creasing whatsoever, I do get quite a bit of fading throughout an entire days wear, although the fading is very even so you aren't left looking patchy or anything. It is worth bearing in mind though that if you plan to wear this for day through to night with a vibrant shadow over the top it will look less vibrant towards the end of the day.
I still love this though. I don't find the wear as good as my L'Oreal Infallible Shadows which seem to stay true to their original application all day, but they are a completely different texture so give a different finish to the L'Oreal ones, so you are justified in purchasing both haha (well that's my excuse anyway :P)
Love the packaging too, small glass jar very similar to MAC/Bobbi Brown packaging.
I have ordered And On Bronze (or Bad to the Bronze in the USA) and can't wait to try it. I have swatched it in store here, and would say my first impression is that it is more akin to L'Oreal Infallible Shadow in Sahara Treasure which is more of a blonde gold than a bronze - swatches will follow once I get it. I also have my eye on the purple one - oooh
I purchase mine from www.feelunique.com as they are less than half the cost in the UK as they are here. Just £4.99 in the UK is a bargain for a fantastic long wearing cream eyeshadow especially when compared to MAC paint pots which I hear are fairly comparible.
